Artist Journal

Growing up in Australia, surrounded by an array of textiles, heightened my artistic creativity. As a child at school, I was always drawing, colouring, and daydreaming about imagery and motion. My love for studio art was fostered by my teachers.

I completed my studies in interior design at KLC in London, which ignited my love for the textiles and interior industry. After several years of working as an interior designer for a London-based firm, I began to realise that there was a scarcity of artwork available for our clients.

In 2024, I began to experiment with painting mediums such as acrylic, watercolour, and oils. I quickly realised I had an affinity for flowers and the natural landscape; thus, my abstract oil florals and cold wax landscapes were born. My admiration for painting landscapes was heightened by my time spent on my father-in-law's farm. Through my cold wax medium, I am capturing the sweeping and ever-changing scenery of this sunburnt country.

My vibrant abstract florals are inspired by my boundless curiosity for the forms, colours, and movement of flowers. I often felt disheartened once my flower arrangements had perished, so I wanted to find a form to preserve their beauty.

Painting was fostered by an art teacher who challenged me to push my ideas and boundaries. After discovering Impressionism, my curiosity in painting was heightened. Mesmerised by all the greats, I wanted to capture the fleeting, beautiful moments within a subject.

“For me, a painting must be a pleasant thing, joyous and pretty - yes, pretty. There are too many unpleasant things in life for us to fabricate still more”. Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Painting in an abstract technique enables me to encapsulate rhythm, motion, and convey subject matter with my own unique voice.
